Types of Services Provided
Consultation
Specification authoring and review. In-progress reviews. Network architecture. Software architecture. Process analysis and optimization.
Programming
Advanced software design and development in accordance with the goals of the client, including functionality, operator usability, ease of commissioning and troubleshooting. We will use client standards if they exist, or may suggest or create standards for future projects, in concern with the client.
Commissioning
Onsite and/or remote startup support depending on the needs of the project. We travel globally for system startups and are dedicated to the success of each project and client.
Computer Health Monitoring
Remote monitoring of your control system PC's to ensure they are always up to date and secure. Our team will review, update, and submit monthly reports on the health status of each PC on your control system network. See "Products" for more info.
Support
Regularly scheduled maintenance and audit services to reduce risk of future downtime or expensive repair. Emergency and planned support services provided onsite, via phone or via secure internet connection.
Hardware Design
AutoCAD Electrical driven electrical design for control panels and related systems, complete with Bill of Materials and cross references.
Panel Building
We work with our trusted local suppliers, or those of the client if directed, to build control cabinets to our designs. We then conduct witnessed or unwitnessed testing to ensure compliance with design.
Plant Audit Services
North Point engineers can provide control system and process audits for your facility. These audits can be customized to target areas of highest concern, but in general may include evaluating disaster recovery, process security (ID weak or key points), cyber-security, training and operations security (dependence on key personnel), and more.
Tier 1- Instruments, Hardware and Simple Controllers
Instrumentation
Specification, design, installation, and calibration. Flow, level, pressure, temperature, analytical.
Panelboard Controllers
Independent and networked unit controllers- single and cascade PID control, drum sequencer, alarm annunciation.
Brick PLCs
Small, inexpensive, limited purpose PLC controllers for unit control, machine control or OEM applications.
Simple Safety Circuits
Certified Safety Relay or modular controller with local safety oversight.
Analytics Networks
Purpose-specific networking for collection and analysis of turbidity and other process data.
Electronics
From low voltage relay logic to medium voltage motor control systems, electrical and electronics are the basis for the most advanced industrial control.
Tier 2- Advanced and Distributed Control Systems
Networked PLC and PAC Systems
Advanced high-reliability controllers with remote I/O and multi-network communication with peers and with other intelligent devices. Can control cells, production lines, or entire facilities.
Hardware-Based HMI Systems
High reliability, tough, purpose-specific operator interface systems for on-machine or in-field deployment. This is the front line of computerized operator interface.
Multivariable and Advanced Continuous Process Control
Cascade, feed-forward, ratio, and nonlinear control loops, singly and in combination, are used to handle challenging processes.
Distributed and Coordinated Safety
Safety PLCs, specific-purpose programmable safety controllers, and entire triple-redundant safety focussed systems are applied to processes with a high potential for personnel, equipment or product damage in the event of a fault or abnormal operation.
Tier 3- High Technology Automation Systems
SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)
Single or networked PC based software for visualization, interaction, data import and export, analytics. SCADA systems take many forms based on customer needs- they can be server based, distributed, redundant, and have clients through the control room, the enterprise, or further.
DCS (Distributed Control System)
Large, networked purpose-specific computers with custom operating software. Control logic is distributed among devices and is usually multi-redundant. These systems are still prevalent in large integrated process plants like paper plants, power plants and refineries.
Historian Systems
Large-scale high performance collection of process data, based on time or events or other criteria. Designed to provide trend data to SCADA systems as well as supporting third party export and analysis or reporting tools
Reporting Systems
Designed to retrieve live and/or historical data from SCADA or Historian systems, process it and present it in a clear manner in a format acceptable to the end user (such as Excel or PDF). Often include automatic timed delivery of reports to user groups.
Tier 4- IIoT and Custom Business or Mobile Software
CLOUD SCADA
Fully cloud hosted SCADA solutions allow secure access from anywhere and advanced datacenter hosting including automatic security updates and backups.
CLOUD DATA
Relational databases (ie. SQL Server, MySQL) can be hosted in the cloud, affording the safety, security, and global accessibility of the cloud, even if your data sources and clients are local. High reliability applications can use store and forward or local replication to ensure access to data.
INDUSTRIAL INTERNET OF THINGS (IIOT)
A subset of the wider IoT, IIoT describes the rapid proliferation of smaller, cheaper sensor-equipped internet-connected devices, the technologies that allow efficient two-way communication with all these devices, and the software systems that collect, collate, process and analyze the mass of data that results. This collision and merger of IT and automation is inevitable and already taking place.
BUSINESS PROCESS AUTOMATION
All businesses have processes, and the effective operation of these are critical to the success of the business. We are expert at recognition of the convergence between automation technology and these processes, and translating them into database backed, logic driven automation systems, customized for your business and delivered quickly at a reasonable cost.
